В архиве два max файла, для max 2011 и для max 2014. Пользователям версии V-Ray ниже, чем 3.1 удобнее выбрать файл для max 2011. В файле для max 2014 в материалах в разделе BRDF стоит Microfaset GTR ( GGX ), если Ваша версия ниже, чем 3.1 , то поле BRDF будет пустым. Выберите Blinn.
